CALIFORNIA CONSTRUCTION COLLEGE (CCC)

San Jose City College initially asked PRx to organize the College's celebration of its new Career Technology Center and the official announcement of the launching of the California Construction College, also located on campus. Under an extremely tight deadline of just three weeks, PRx staff put together every aspect of the event, including invitations, audiovisual services, news releases, press pitches, an op-ed, programs and decorations.

The program on Oct. 23, 2008 was a huge success that drew top leaders from the construction industry, elected officials, educators and the press. PRx was able to accomplish this through its vast network of contacts in the community and in the news media. However, this was just the first step in the effort to build momentum behind the public awareness and fundraising campaign for the California Construction College (CCC). The campaign was critical because the CCC is the first college of its kind in the state to offer a Bachelor's degree in construction management.

The second step was to work closely with CCC leaders to design multi-media materials to be used for the raising of funds from potential donors in the construction industry. After extensive meetings with CCC leaders about design, fundraising goals, target audiences, key messages and content, PRx came up with a package of materials that have had a huge impact.

PRx produced a full-color 9x12 brochure with eight pages of content, along with collateral material that included FAQs for targeted audiences; testimonials from supporters; contribution level descriptions; business cards; an eight-page mini brochure; full-color reprints of newspaper articles and editorials about CCC; a Power Point presentation; and a six-minute mini-documentary about the College on DVD. These materials allow CCC leaders to present a comprehensive and powerful package of information to potential donors.

In summary, the campaign to introduce CCC to the community, from inaugural celebration to production of mini-documentary to development of fundraising materials, has created a convincing and unified message that continues to help the college meet its ambitious fundraising goals..
